New publication from The Karolinska Handball Study (KHAST)

KHAST is a research project conducted at the Musculoskeletal & Sports Injury Epidemiology Center at Karolinska Institutet, in collaboration with the Swedish Handball Federation and the School of Naprapathy. The purpose of this project is to increase knowledge regarding risk factors for shoulder injuries in young elite handball players and how these injuries can be prevented.

The School of Naprapathy is initiating a collaboration with Per Palmgren, a licensed chiropractor and researcher with a PhD in education from Karolinska Institutet.

Per will contribute his extensive expertise and passion for manual medicine and pedagogy in several ways. He will be one of the people who, together with the director of studies and teachers in naprapathy, will lead the elective course, the “pedagogical track.”

World Cup naprapath Johan Allgulander lectures at the School of Naprapathy

Johan Allgulander is at the School of Naprapathy today to give a lecture, but he also found time for an impromptu inspirational talk. In front of the college’s students in a packed auditorium, he spoke about what it’s like to work as a naprapath and how fantastic it was to be there in person in Milan on Monday night.

On November 13, an open house was held at the School of Naprapathy. Visitors gathered to learn more about naprapathy and the naprapathic program, and the agenda included information and a Q&A session, as well as a tour and treatment demonstrations by the college's students.

K.I.C. turns one

The Karolinska Football Injury Cohort (KIC) research project is turning one! KIC is being conducted to identify risk factors for injuries in young female football players, and 140 players have been included so far. The goal is for 600 players to participate, making the study one of the largest of its kind.

Summer­celebration at the Naprapath­ic College

On Wednesday, May 24, 2017, it was once again time for the School of Naprapathy's traditional summer celebration. At 11:00 AM, around 200 of the college's students gathered on the terrace for drinks in the sunshine. Afterward, teachers, staff, and students gathered in the auditorium for the closing ceremony itself.

Helène Schulte appointed Rector of the School of Naprapathy

Licensed physician and Doctor of Medicine, Helène Schulte, will become the new rector of the School of Naprapathy starting August 1. Helène has served as acting rector for the past academic year, and as director of studies since 2009. Helène Schulte earned her doctorate in 2005 with the thesis “Human experimental pain models: Methodological & analgesic studies” at Karolinska Institutet, and has also worked at the Department of Anesthesiology, Intensive Care and Pain Medicine at Karolinska University Hospital, with a special interest in emergency medicine at UCLA, USA.

Recognition of naprapaths' practical service in another EEA country

The National Board of Health and Welfare's regulations on the recognition of chiropractors' and naprapaths' practical service in another EEA country enter into force on June 1, 2016. The consultation process concluded in early 2016, and it is, of course, very gratifying to see the regulation now take legal effect.
