NIMM's Student Union is the students' collective voice and meeting place at the Nordic Institute for Manual Medicine. The student union works for community, well-being, and student influence over their education and study environment.
The student union was founded in 1975 and organizes all students at the Nordic Institute for Manual Medicine in Stockholm.
The student union board consists of 15 different roles, including chairperson, vice chairperson, treasurer, deputy treasurer, secretary, the education committee, shop manager, content creator (social media), head of photo, film and editing, the sports committee, the party committee, and substitute members.
The student union board works actively to strengthen student community and improve the study environment at NIMM. The student union is represented on the education board, where we vote on various changes at the school, as well as in student social forums where students from every class meet to engage in a dialogue about opportunities for improvement in the education. This enables an important collaboration between the school management and the students.
The student union is an interest organization that is politically, union, and religiously independent. The work done by the student union board is done by students, for students, for students at NIMM regardless of their program.
It all started with a man named Björn J:son Berg, the founder of the school. And I quickly felt: "We simply cannot have a student union without a Björn." But why a polar bear?
Well! Björn studied in Chicago, and if you have ever been to the USA and mentioned you are from Sweden (or the Nordics), you know how it goes:
"Oh wow! Do you guys have polar bears walking around?"
Of course. Right next to the grocery store.
That is where the idea for Bergis the Polar Bear, our very own student union mascot, was born. A symbol of the school's history. Bergis simply felt like an obvious part of our new student union board logo.
The font was chosen to resemble the school's, as a way to show that we work together. At the same time, we wanted to keep something personal—something that signals community, warmth, and that the student union board is always close by (even if our mascot happens to come from the "North Pole").
The colors white and blue are taken from the old logo, but in a new and modern interpretation.
We hope you will like Bergis as much as we do; he is here to stay.

Acts as the student union board's public representative and contact person for collaborations. Leads the board's work together with the elected board members and maintains an overall view of operations. Works for improvements within the school, the board, and the external network. Also participates in various committees such as the education board, research board, admissions board, and disciplinary board.

Acts as the chairperson's right hand and works primarily internally. Maintains contact with students at the school and members, and is responsible for membership issues on the student union board. Also responsible for matters concerning SSSB and Mecenat. Participates in the education board.

Responsible for the student union's finances by managing the budget, tax returns, and bank relations. Ensures that the finances are in order and presents the annual report at the annual meeting.

Represents students on the education board and participates in voting. Also takes part in student social forums where two students from each class discuss matters concerning the school. The Education Committee drives educational issues for students, whether they concern courses or programs.

Responsible for taking the board's minutes and ensuring they are printed and signed. Also takes minutes during annual meetings. The secretary may also be assigned other relevant tasks related to information from the student union board, such as updating information for students on Schoolity (NIMM's educational platform).

Acts as the contact person for the student union's merchandise. Responsible for keeping the vending machine stocked, placing orders, and liaising with the coffee machine supplier to ensure the caffeine keeps flowing at school.

Responsible for all pubs at the school and serves as the contact person for external events organized by the student union in other venues around Stockholm, such as formal dinners. Together with the student union board, we also organize the end-of-year celebration. Furthermore, the Party Committee is responsible for the party section KNAQ.

Organizes various sports activities and works to keep students active at the school. The Sports Committee's biggest event is Naprapathy Day, but more events may be added as more programs are launched at NIMM.

Acts as the extra helping hand that every position needs. Substitutes are not tied to a specific role but assist other positions whenever the workload piles up.
