Since 2009, NIMM has held a collaboration agreement with the Institute of Environmental Medicine (IMM) at Karolinska Institutet. Within the framework of this agreement, continuous investments are made in research and development. For instance, extensive, high-quality international scientific studies have been conducted at the NIMM clinic since the spring of 2010. The results of these studies, which are published in international scientific journals, provide important answers to questions regarding the optimal care of patients seeking naprapathic treatment, as well as how symptoms in back and neck patients vary over time—providing in-depth knowledge about the prognosis for back and neck pain.

An increasing number of naprapaths are pursuing doctoral studies, and NIMM, in collaboration with the Swedish Naprapathic Association, funds doctoral students training as researchers at institutions such as Karolinska Institutet and Ghent University. These doctoral students play a central role in the research projects conducted at NIMM.
