With roots in the Naprapathic College, founded in 1970, NIMM is today the Nordic region’s oldest and largest integrated educational environment for manual medicine. NIMM includes the Naprapathic College, the Chiropractic Academy, and the Osteopathic College – three professions with their own identities, but with a common direction: to strengthen the role of manual medicine in the healthcare of the future.

Manual medicine, pain and musculoskeletal health
NIMM’s programmes are structured to provide a clear progression from fundamental medical knowledge to advanced clinical competence. Students study subjects such as anatomy, physiology, pain, diagnostics, treatment, rehabilitation, scientific methodology, professional conduct and patient safety.
The clinical connection is introduced early in the programmes. Through work-integrated learning, supervision and patient-centred teaching, students gradually develop their clinical reasoning, sense of responsibility and professional identity. The goal is not just to be able to treat, but to be able to assess, prioritise, communicate and act professionally.
NIMM’s ambition is for manual medicine to evolve through knowledge. The institution conducts and links its education to research in areas including manual medicine, musculoskeletal health, pain, and sports medicine.
Many of our teachers are active researchers, and many possess extensive clinical experience. This means students receive instruction that is both academically grounded and closely connected to professional practice. Through methodology training, thesis work, clinical seminars, and research-related projects, students are trained to think critically, evaluate new knowledge, and contribute to the continued development of their professions.
