NIMM becomes the sole provider of chiropractic education in Sweden

The Scandinavian Chiropractic College Foundation (SKHS) and the Nordic Institute of Manual Medicine (NIMM) share the goal of strengthening the academic status of chiropractic education in Sweden. The institutions have now agreed that this goal is best achieved by consolidating all chiropractic education under one institution - NIMM.

Naprapathy, chiropractic, and osteopathy in a unique, unified education and research environment

NIMM – The Nordic Institute for Manual Medicine will be the world's first educational institution to establish naprapathy, chiropractic, and osteopathy within a unified education and research environment. Starting in the autumn semester of 2026, a new four-year osteopathy program will be introduced alongside the existing programs in naprapathy and chiropractic. The program is designed to meet national quality requirements and European standards in osteopathy, building on NIMM's extensive experience in evidence-based manual medicine education.

New chiropractic program

The Nordic Institute for Manual Medicine (NIMM) in Stockholm is introducing a new chiropractic degree program leading to professional licensure, starting in the autumn semester of 2025. This four-year, government-funded program is designed to meet both national and international quality standards, with the long-term goal of obtaining degree-awarding powers and accreditation from the European Council on Chiropractic Education (ECCE).

Chair of the Board of the School of Naprapathy Inger Berg has passed away

It is with deep sadness and a heavy heart that we announce that the Chair of the Board of the School of Naprapathy, Inger Berg, 77, has passed away. Inger passed away peacefully at home on November 2nd, following a period of illness, surrounded by her family and much love.

Björn was the person who brought naprapathy from America to the Nordic region. His life's work was defined by courage and willpower, and his personality by creativity and a forward-looking spirit. Many of us are deeply grateful for this. My colleagues at School of Naprapathy and I promise to honor his legacy and continue to develop the naprapathy program for the future.

In Memoriam Björn J:son Berg

It is with great sadness that we announce that the founder and rector emeritus of School of Naprapathy, Björn J:son Berg, has passed away. Björn brought naprapathy to the Nordic region, thereby establishing a new profession within Nordic healthcare. He was a fearless visionary, an inspiring teacher, and a warm and generous person.

Record number of applicants for autumn programs!

The number of applicants to the country's colleges and universities is at a record high. Figures from the Swedish Council for Higher Education (UHR) show an increase of 13%. The increase is greatest among younger age groups, those who have recently left upper secondary school.

Naprapaths behind leading research in sports medicine. Martin Asker, licensed naprapath, doctoral student at Karolinska Institutet, and instructor at the School of Naprapathy, publishes a high-quality study in one of the world's top-ranked sports medicine journals – the British Journal of Sports Medicine.

The School of Naprapathy is initiating a collaboration with Per Palmgren, a licensed chiropractor and researcher with a PhD in education from Karolinska Institutet.

Per will contribute his extensive expertise and passion for manual medicine and pedagogy in several ways. He will be one of the people who, together with the director of studies and teachers in naprapathy, will lead the elective course, the “pedagogical track.”

Helène Schulte appointed Rector of the School of Naprapathy

Licensed physician and Doctor of Medicine, Helène Schulte, will become the new rector of the School of Naprapathy starting August 1. Helène has served as acting rector for the past academic year, and as director of studies since 2009. Helène Schulte earned her doctorate in 2005 with the thesis “Human experimental pain models: Methodological & analgesic studies” at Karolinska Institutet, and has also worked at the Department of Anesthesiology, Intensive Care and Pain Medicine at Karolinska University Hospital, with a special interest in emergency medicine at UCLA, USA.
