On November 13, an open house was held at the School of Naprapathy. Visitors gathered to learn more about naprapathy and the naprapathic program, and the agenda included information and a Q&A session, as well as a tour and treatment demonstrations by the college's students.
Below is a summary of the presentation given by the School of Naprapathy's principal, directors of studies, teachers, staff, and student representatives.
Naprapathy is a manual treatment method involving the examination, diagnosis, treatment, and rehabilitation of pain conditions and functional disorders in muscles and joints. Naprapathy was founded in the USA at the beginning of the last century and was introduced in Sweden in the late 1960s. The School of Naprapathy in Stockholm was founded in 1970 and is today the largest college in the Nordic region for advanced manual medicine.
Naprapaths are in high demand because most people will, at some point, experience pain in their back, neck, joints, or muscles, or suffer a sports injury. Naprapathy is prominent within the sports world, where many clubs, associations, and individual athletes hire naprapaths. Naprapaths are also part of the medical teams behind many Olympic athletes and national teams. Naprapaths are also common in occupational health services, often working in collaboration with other healthcare providers such as doctors and physiotherapists. Today, naprapaths are one of the largest professional groups in the Nordic region within advanced manual medicine, and the need is significant. This is evidenced by the approximately 1.5 million naprapathic treatments performed annually in Sweden alone.
If you choose the naprapathic program, we promise you four very interesting, fun, and educational years. You will study everything from anatomy to sports medicine, from medical psychology to biomechanics, and from massage to manipulation therapy. The largest part of the program consists of practical and clinical instruction. This means that as a student, you will constantly receive feedback from teaching staff and supervisors, as well as from your fellow students. Theory is interspersed with practice, and from your second semester, you will treat patients under the supervision of experienced, licensed naprapaths at the School of Naprapathy clinic. We apply this combination of theoretical, practical, and clinical instruction because we know it helps us fulfill our goal: to train the most skilled therapists in manual medicine.
The School of Naprapathy is a fantastic place for education. We possess solid expertise, a positive forward-thinking spirit, and a desire to develop the core subject of naprapathy.
