For the Principal, the new year has so far involved in-depth work on the new 2020 curriculum. It is my hope that the two tracks, PD & SD, which will be integrated into the program, will contribute to positive development.
The overall objective of this track is for students to develop their ability to communicate with patients. Consequently, the majority of the subject will be integrated into clinical naprapathy through Work-Integrated Learning (WIL). The track will cover various areas such as coaching, behavioral science & medical psychology, communication methodology & skills, healthcare law, entrepreneurship & collaboration, gender perspectives, and ethical approaches.
The purpose of SD is to introduce students to scientific thinking and the critical, evidence-based approach required by a naprapath in daily clinical practice. Furthermore, it prepares students for "lifelong learning." The track will cover scientific information retrieval, communication, study design, research ethics, biostatistics, evidence-based medicine (EBM), and methods for clinical research and the application of EBM.
Most of these subjects are already included in the current curriculum, but they need to be clarified and highlighted from a clinical perspective to be applied correctly and meaningfully.
