Over the past year, our educational program has navigated a challenging period that required significant operational adjustments, both organizationally and in terms of our teaching methods. We were forced to find urgent solutions to continue our instruction. We did it, and we succeeded!
No courses or examinations have been cancelled, all students have been able to complete their studies on schedule, and our graduating classes have been able to receive their degrees. Furthermore, evaluations show that we have achieved this while maintaining a very high standard of education; both students and patients remain satisfied. This is despite the fact that we all, at times—and surely quite often—feel a general sense of resignation and despair over the situation we all find ourselves in.
In summary, the digitalization process we were forced to implement at record speed has naturally led to development taking "giant leaps." Now, it is time to learn from the past year and build upon our experiences, carrying them forward into our future teaching. Much like the conclusion reached by Eringfeld in the article “Higher education and its post-coronial future: utopian hopes and dystopian fears at Cambridge University during Covid-19” (2020), we need to develop a blended approach that combines secure and flexible virtual learning with face-to-face instruction to accommodate the diverse needs of our students while maintaining a sense of social cohesion and community.
