Whether the world is facing a severe pandemic that claims many lives or the Russian political leadership chooses to attack Ukraine, the critical evaluation of what is published in various forms of media becomes increasingly important.
In higher education, it is essential to teach strategies for processing new information, regardless of the field. General strategies for critical source evaluation should consider the source, potential underlying interests, incomplete information, conflicting data, generalizations, and objectivity. Critical source evaluation is not only taught in the research methodology module of the naprapathy program but is also a core component of the naprapathy subject itself and runs as a common thread throughout all other courses.
Given the current state of the world, I believe the role of academia is vital when it comes to critical evaluation. I encourage everyone to continue to recognize the importance of critically examining what you read, hear, or see. Finally, the School of Naprapathy would like to express its support and sympathy for the people involuntarily drawn into the ongoing political conflict between Russia and Ukraine.
