Last week, Head of Department Sofia Brorsson and her colleagues, including Ulrika Tranaeus, licensed naprapath and senior lecturer, hosted a study visit and holiday mingle at the Department of Physiology, Nutrition and Biomechanics at the Swedish School of Sport and Health Sciences (GIH).

During the visit, ongoing research projects were presented, followed by a demonstration of the three main laboratories.
The Åstrand Laboratory conducts work physiology research focused on both physical performance and health and well-being. Activities include measuring oxygen uptake and physical performance, as well as taking muscle biopsies and blood samples. At the Laboratory for Biomechanics and Motor Control (BMC), studies are conducted on human movement and its neural, muscular, and mechanical effects. The Laboratory for Applied Sport Science (LTIV) focuses on integrating theory and practice, as well as addressing the sports community's needs for testing and applied sports science. The Swedish Olympic Committee and the Swedish Sports Confederation contribute to the funding, alongside GIH, which serves as the principal organization.
The work being done at GIH is impressive and shares several commonalities with the curriculum at the School of Naprapathy. I hope that we can find many opportunities for future collaboration!
