Running an educational institution and serving as a principal requires constant development and the need to stay current. Maintaining a principal's blog, much like many other colleges and universities, is hopefully a simple way to communicate important issues for both the School of Naprapathy and the field of naprapathy at large.
Being a principal is a great responsibility that I have been entrusted with, something I am both very happy and honored to take on. Some might wonder what a principal actually does. Hopefully, some of these blog posts will provide a better insight into the operations from the principal's perspective.
Just as in 2016 when I took office as principal, I believe that “The School of Naprapathy is a unique place for education and research in manual medicine. It is home to the largest naprapathic training program in the world, and my goal is to contribute to the continued development of naprapathy through high competence, dedication, and critical thinking.”
2019 began on a particularly festive note with both the School of Naprapathy’s graduation ceremony for class DN49 at the Grand Hôtel and an invitation to the Sophiahemmet University graduation ceremony and professorial installation at the Stockholm City Hall’s Blue Hall. As many of you have surely already seen, the former principal of the School of Naprapathy, licensed naprapath Eva Skillgate, was one of those honored to be installed as a professor at Sophiahemmet University. My hope, of course, is that the School of Naprapathy and Sophiahemmet University will be able to find future forms of collaboration in both research and education.
Furthermore, at the beginning of January, we were proud to welcome another new class, this time DN55, as they begin their journey to becoming naprapaths. It feels just as exciting every time to meet and get to know new students. You have a fantastic time ahead of you…!
On the research side, the major study “The Course of Pain,” with the overall aim of investigating the pain progression in patients seeking care at the college’s clinic, has officially kicked off, and we hope that many patients will be included. In addition, we are pleased to announce that the School of Naprapathy’s Scientific Council (NVR) will be strengthened from the spring semester onwards by no fewer than four new members, all of whom are researchers with doctoral degrees in naprapathy and sports medicine.
Could a year start any better?
Best regards,
Helène
