On Monday, large parts of the world will celebrate Valentine's Day. The tradition of celebrating love on February 14th goes back many hundreds of years. We don't really know why it became that specific day, but connections have been made to the fact that birds sought and found their partners in the middle of February.
And why the 14th, Valentine's Day? Who was Valentine? We don't actually know that either. There are several stories about saints named Valentine. Aside from that, and the fact that the day is often characterized by commercialism, it is certainly worth celebrating love a little extra, even if one might feel that the loved ones around us should be cherished every day.
I would like to direct my love to the true heroes of the pandemic, those who stood on the front lines of healthcare as one wave after another followed. Colleagues who worked inhumanly long shifts, fully equipped in cumbersome protective gear, and with a constant worry that resources and energy would not be enough. The School of Naprapathy has tried to contribute, which meant that part of the clinical training normally conducted at the school clinic could be carried out at Danderyd Hospital when healthcare needed it most.
