NIMM’s goal is to be a leading player in evidence-based manual medicine by providing education of a high international standard, promoting the development of knowledge in naprapathy and chiropractic, and working to consolidate and further develop the role of manual medicine in society. As part of this long-term development work, Associate Professor and licensed chiropractor Iben Axén has been appointed as Research Director.

Iben holds a Doctor of Chiropractic degree from The Anglo-European College of Chiropractic (AECC) in England and divides her time between NIMM, the Institute of Environmental Medicine (IMM) at Karolinska Institutet, and the foundation Et Liv i Bevegelse in Norway.

As Research Director at NIMM, her role involves initiating research projects and providing support and supervision to advance research in manual medicine. The goal is to maintain a stable research environment at NIMM, where students have the opportunity to actively engage in ongoing, high-quality scientific projects. The position also includes serving as Chair of the Research Board at NIMM.
