Most people at the School of Naprapathy are now heading off for some time off. The students started their summer break a while ago, and now the staff can also begin their vacations after having planned for the upcoming academic year. So, what will the next academic year look like?
The School of Naprapathy hopes to return to more on-site teaching, while some courses will continue to be offered as remote web lectures. This is based on the Public Health Agency of Sweden's announcement on June 15th, which eased the requirements for education and examinations to be conducted remotely. This is, of course, very welcome news!
However, things will not return entirely to normal. The weekly surveys conducted during the spring semester of 2020 clearly show that students appreciate digital teaching methods for theoretical courses and would like to see this option remain.
Remote instruction, i.e., instruction that can take place entirely without the requirement of physical presence, will only be provided for students in their first semester, which consists exclusively of theoretical courses.
With the experience we have gained so far from the digitalization of our teaching, there are excellent opportunities for continued pedagogical development. As part of strengthening this work, a new position for a Director of Studies in ICT (Information and Communication Technology) has been established at the School of Naprapathy.
The Director of Studies responsible for ICT will plan, develop, implement, manage, and provide guidance on the use of digital tools in teaching.
The Public Health Agency of Sweden's restrictions on public gatherings must, of course, continue to be followed at the School of Naprapathy. Teaching sessions or meetings with more than 50 people should therefore be avoided. We will follow the authorities' requirements and recommendations as they change.
In summary, the conditions for the autumn semester look a bit brighter, but at the same time, no one can say exactly what the corona pandemic will look like after the summer. So, along with other educational institutions across the country, our message is: "stay strong, hang in there, keep your distance!"
It is everyone's responsibility to ensure that the infection situation moves in the right direction over the summer.
