A milestone for the School of Naprapathy as the first professor in manual medicine is inaugurated. Eva Skillgate was formally inaugurated as professor during the graduation ceremony for the DN55 class.
The inauguration was held in the Hall of Mirrors at the Grand Hôtel and began with a speech by licensed naprapath and PhD Fredrik Johansson, who compared Eva's achievements over the years to various sporting feats. It was a celebrated and highly ingenious speech. Eva was then inaugurated by President Heléne Schulte, a licensed physician and MD. The celebration continued with a banquet and dancing in the Hall of Mirrors. Eva's career began with her naprapathic degree in 1988, followed by her doctoral defense in 2007 with the thesis ” Back and neck pain. Epidemiological studies on some risk factors and treatments, including Naprapathic manual therapy” and she subsequently became an associate professor of epidemiology at Karolinska Institutet in 2013. Since 2019, Eva has been a professor of nursing science at Sophiahemmet University.
Eva's primary focus at the School of Naprapathy will be to foster an active research environment that stimulates students' scientific approach and development.
The School of Naprapathy is very happy and proud to recognize Eva's fantastic and significant contributions by installing her as the college's first professor in manual medicine!
