We are currently offering a unique opportunity to join the MUSIC (Musculoskeletal & Sports Injury Epidemiology Center) research group at Karolinska Institutet (KI) as a doctoral student, focusing on a dissertation regarding the treatment of chronic neck pain, starting September 1, 2016.
The project is based on a major study on massage therapy and exercise (Stockholm Neck Trial - STONE) conducted by Karolinska Institutet in collaboration with the School of Naprapathy.
This project, which received the highest ranking of all applicants when it was awarded funding for a doctoral student salary at KI in a highly competitive process, along with the 14 other projects that also received funding, are described at http://ki.se/nvs/nationella-forskarskolan-i-vardvetenskap-nfv and applications are submitted via the KI website.
Being a doctoral student means training full-time for four years, with a salary, to become a researcher, defending your thesis and earning a PhD in Medical Science at Karolinska Institutet (KI). In doing so, you join a small group of pioneers dedicated to advancing knowledge in naprapathy through research.
The positions are announced by KI's research school, the National Research School in Health Care Sciences, but the doctoral student will be registered in Eva Skillgate's research group, MUSIC, at the Institute of Environmental Medicine (IMM), KI in Solna, with Eva as the principal supervisor. The MUSIC group brings together most of the naprapaths working in research, as well as physical therapists, chiropractors, and physicians.
Attached is information about a hearing where you can learn more about the projects, as well as a description of this specific project. The hearing is this coming Monday, January 18, and the application deadline is February 7, 2016.
It would be wonderful if this position and opportunity went to a naprapath. However, you must be eligible for registration as a doctoral student at KI, which requires academic qualifications beyond the Swedish naprapathic training program.
