Norway has finally approved the proposal for the authorization/licensure of naprapaths. The process has been long, but this week we received the long-awaited and joyful news that the Storting has now decided that naprapaths in Norway will be an authorized/licensed profession.
And is therefore an established part of the Norwegian healthcare system, just as it is in Sweden.
This decision is obviously very important from several perspectives. It contributes to public health, strengthens patient safety, and, not least, represents a huge recognition of naprapathy as a treatment method. It also means that the demand for naprapaths in the Norwegian market will increase. For the School of Naprapathy, the decision on authorization/licensure means that we can expect an increased number of Norwegian naprapathy students in the short term. In the longer term, the decision marks an important milestone in our ambition to establish a naprapathy program in Norway as well.
Congratulations to Norway, and thank you to everyone who participated in the process with such determination and professionalism. A special thanks to the Norwegian Naprapathic Association and Secretary General Mariann Fuglerud!
