Women's access to education and professional careers is one of the most significant developments since the mid-19th century and has fundamentally transformed Swedish society. Since 2017, all higher education institutions have been mandated to work with gender mainstreaming, which is Sweden's primary strategy for achieving gender equality policy goals for an equal society.
So, what does this look like within the field of naprapathy? We are pleased to note that the proportion of female students at the School of Naprapathy is approximately 50%. Regarding staff and faculty, we can also confirm that the gender distribution is satisfactorily balanced. Finally, within the profession, statistics from the National Board of Health and Welfare show that naprapaths are among the top tier of all licensed healthcare professionals when it comes to gender balance.
Although the summary above looks satisfactory regarding gender distribution in education and professional life, we must, of course, continue our work at the School of Naprapathy to broaden recruitment and ensure education on equal terms, regardless of gender, gender identity or expression, ethnicity, sexual orientation, disability, age, religion, and/or social background.
